One of my GCSE English tutees has considerable trouble memorising literary terms for his GCSE examination, poetry being his main weakspot.
When I suggested to Raif that he might try writing tricky words on post-it notes and sticking them on the wall above his desk, his mother had a much better idea.
The result can be seen in this photo of large, colourful letters camouflaging the family’s fridge door. Every time he approaches the refrigerator to fetch a coke or a chicken leg, he sees ‘PLOSIVES’ staring at him in technicolour details, reminding him of this important term – one that will gain him valuable marks in the poetry section of the literature paper.
Way To Go, Raif’s mother!
